customer created interpreter not found by Zeppelin

Günter Hipler

Hi,

I tried to make my first steps implementing a new interpreter following the steps on
https://zeppelin.apache.org/docs/latest/development/writingzeppelininterpreter.html

Here
https://gist.github.com/guenterh/56e5300e6bf8647f98f392d023460dbe
I summarized so far what I have done

a) create the interpreter  MetafactureFluxInterpreter

b) create the interpreter-settings.json

c) I included the new type in the zeppelin-site.xml file

But I get an exception in my notebook.

mfflux.mfflux interpreter not found
org.apache.zeppelin.interpreter.InterpreterException: mfflux.mfflux interpreter not found at org.apache.zeppelin.interpreter.InterpreterFactory.getInterpreter(InterpreterFactory.java:415) at org.apache.zeppelin.notebook.Note.run(Note.java:600) at org.apache.zeppelin.socket.NotebookServer.persistAndExecuteSingleParagraph(NotebookServer.java:1641) at org.apache.zeppelin.socket.NotebookServer.runParagraph(NotebookServer.java:1615) at org.apache.zeppelin.socket.NotebookServer.onMessage(NotebookServer.java:265) at org.apache.zeppelin.socket.NotebookSocket.onWebSocketText(NotebookSocket.java:59) at org.eclipse.jetty.websocket.common.events.JettyListenerEventDriver.onTextMessage(JettyListenerEventDriver.java:128) at org.eclipse.jetty.websocket.common.message.SimpleTextMessage.messageComplete(SimpleTextMessage.java:69) at org.eclipse.jetty.websocket.common.events.AbstractEventDriver.appendMessage(AbstractEventDriver.java:65) at org.eclipse.jetty.websocket.common.events.JettyListenerEventDriver.onTextFrame(JettyListenerEventDriver.java:122) at org.eclipse.jetty.websocket.common.events.AbstractEventDriver.incomingFrame(AbstractEventDriver.java:161) at org.eclipse.jetty.websocket.common.WebSocketSession.incomingFrame(WebSocketSession.java:309) at org.eclipse.jetty.websocket.common.extensions.ExtensionStack.incomingFrame(ExtensionStack.java:214) at org.eclipse.jetty.websocket.common.Parser.notifyFrame(Parser.java:220) at org.eclipse.jetty.websocket.common.Parser.parse(Parser.java:258) at org.eclipse.jetty.websocket.common.io.AbstractWebSocketConnection.readParse(AbstractWebSocketConnection.java:632) at org.eclipse.jetty.websocket.common.io.AbstractWebSocketConnection.onFillable(AbstractWebSocketConnection.java:480) at org.eclipse.jetty.io.AbstractConnection$2.run(AbstractConnection.java:544) at org.eclipse.jetty.util.thread.QueuedThreadPool.runJob(QueuedThreadPool.java:635) at org.eclipse.jetty.util.thread.QueuedThreadPool$3.run(QueuedThreadPool.java:555) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:748) What did I miss? - thanks for a hint Günter

Re: customer created interpreter not found by Zeppelin

Günter Hipler

I use 0.72

I have put the interpreter-settings.json file into the base resources directory so it is part of my customized Jar.

For this customized jar I have created a subdirectory in the ZEPPELIN_BASE/interpreter dir

Thanks for response!

Günter

Could you check zeppelin log ? There should be something like following, try to figure out whether your interpreter is loaded.

Re: customer created interpreter not found by Zeppelin

Hi Jeff,

thanks for the hint.

Yes the customized interpreter is loaded.

 INFO [2017-09-16 14:12:13,926] ({main} InterpreterSettingManager.java[init]:337) - InterpreterSettingRef name pig

(mfflux)

For the next hours I cannot deeper analyze the problem. I have to give a presentation about our use case for an open data cultural hackathon. We wanted to use Zeppelin within our infrastructure.

http://make.opendata.ch/wiki/project:big_data_analytics
I will give it a further effort tomorrow
